Hi Tracy: I'm still running "solo" and things are slightly picking up. The placement process / cycle has slowed down in pace however the show must go on. Decision makers are not as confident as they were in the 1st and 2nd qtr of 08'. I'm certain 2009' will be a better year for us all.

I'm always trying to stay busy. I have been flying solo, for a little while now...the flexibility is great! However, being a one man band is not that easy.

Hi Tracy,

It seems that you figured out how to post your 8 Things about yourself. Thanks for doing that!

About Me:
I am an Executive Recruiter specializing in Accounting/Finance. I work for Accountants Inc. in Carlsbad and have since January, 2001. I've been in this industry for 11 years, but specializing in Acctg/Fi for 6.5. I started in Business Development and, after 5 years in that role, I realized my network had grown so I was referring candidates for opportunities I brought in. So, I asked myself, "if I know who to refer for these positions, why shouldn't I make those connections myself?" So, that's just what I did. Now I enjoy connecting my network of great Clients with great Accounting/Finance professionals. In my down time I manage a household with my wonderful husband and for our 2 children!

As a recruiter I have a highly customer-focused approach; I consider both the client and the candidate a customer. I believe this to be a result of my career being deeply rooted in sales and service. My first job, after tossing my cap in the air in back in '92, was as a sales representative for Canon in LA. I was hired for a new division focused on selling an emerging product – an Optical Imaging System. For three years I marketed, demonstrated and sold the product to companies all over LA who were interested in moving toward a “paperless” environment. At that time it was rare to find someone who knew what that meant. Starting then and continuing today I have always asked a lot of questions. I make it a point to ask them and answer them. I found out early on that if I don't ask, I can't know and the outcome, at that point, is uncertain. The bottom line for me is remembering this: A candidate can become a client or, at the very minimum, refer my name to a hiring manager he/she knows. Over time, and with this in mind, I have developed strong communication and business development skills and combined these with the sensitivity and analytical ability to grasp candidates’ and clients’ requirements accurately, both in interviews and briefing/debriefing sessions. If you work with me, you will find that I am results driven; I relish the challenge of finding exactly the right opportunity, or exactly the right candidate. I can manage searches for a wide range of positions found on an accounting/finance organizational chart in both private and public companies. I can place a Director of Finance today and a Staff Accountant tomorrow. Additionally, my operating style reflects the culture of San Diego… it is hallmarked by my openness, flexibility and pride. As your recruiter or employment consultant of choice, I will strive to demonstrate a level of passion and energy that helps set me apart from the competition. Allow me to prove it to you!

Thanks, Simon, for the “tag” I received from Sitting Xlegged. I am new to this; not to reading and enjoying blogs, but to writing them. Anyway, I started this reply process by jotting down some of the “random” things that are important about me - st
